Message
Dear JS Families,
What an incredible start it has been to the 2026-2027 school year! I can’t tell you how lovely it has been to see our new and returning students connecting, building relationships and routines, and setting the foundation for a year of growth and learning. It is going to be a fantastic year.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful feedback throughout the week! We are excited to continue working in partnership with you and in supporting our students to make a difference not just today, but into the future.
To all those celebrating Rosh Hashanah this weekend, we wish you a Shana Tova. We look forward to celebrating and sharing the importance of the Jewish High Holidays on Wednesday, September 23, during Prayers, to be followed by a reception in the JS Library.
Warmly,
Kate

Reminders
How You Can Support a SAFE and EFFICIENT Arrival and Dismissal Process
Join us in ensuring that our Junior School remains a consistently safe environment for everyone in our community. Our amazing team of teachers and security professionals are here to support in this process. Please follow their directions!
Temporary Parking Restrictions on Campus
- There is currently no parking available for families at the Junior School while we await construction of the Turf and Dome.
- Should you arrive early for drop-off or pick-up, do not park – even temporarily – in one of the parking spots.
- Please reference Spot Angels to find legal street parking or local parking garages.
Arrive for Dismissal During Your Child’s Designated Time
- JK to Grade 3: 3:05–3:20 pm
- Grades 4 to 6: 3:15–3:30 pm
- Please Note:
- If you arrive early for your dismissal time, you may be asked to temporarily leave the Junior School driveway. If you have more than one child, please arrive during the time slot assigned to your eldest child.
Dismissal Cards
- Have your laminated dismissal card clearly visible.
- It is easiest to see if it is placed on the dashboard of the front passenger seat.
When Using the Carline
- Stay in the “cue,” rather than driving ahead and around other vehicles, unless instructed otherwise by one of our security professionals.
- Have students ready to exit, curbside, as soon as your car stops alongside the curb (backpacks, water bottles, etc, should be easily accessible). Stay in your car, if at all possible. If you need to exit your car to assist your child to get out of a car seat or booster, please do so quickly. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED AT ANY TIME!
- Abide by the signage both on and off school property. This includes: driving 10 km along the driveway, not parking along the driveway during peak times, no double parking, or stopping in restricted zones on Rosewell Ave.
When Walking
- Cross at the designated crosswalk with the crossing guard and flashing pylons, and NOT across the driveway exit.
To learn more, please refer to our Junior School Arrival and Dismissal Protocols.

- For Athletics – Email the JS Director of Athletics, Anna Bartlett,
- For Clubs – Email the Junior School Office Administrator, Sarah Robertson.
Athletics’ Information:
- Students in Gr. 4-6 may register for two teams plus cross-country. After the 2-week trial period, students must choose between Basketball, Soccer, or Swim. Please consult with your child(ren) to confirm which teams they would like to try out for before completing the online registration.
- Fall Athletics Schedule (bookmark this) can also be found on the Parent Portal. The season schedule will be finalized on Sept.16. When you click on the link, make sure you are looking at the first tab – “FALL 2026.”
Clubs Information:
- JS Clubs start the week of September 21
- There are still some spots left in Active Games (Gr. SK – 1) on Mondays, Lego Club on Tuesdays (Gr. SK) and Sportskid (Gr. SK – 1) on Thursdays.
- Please note:
- Teaching Kitchen is one of our most popular after-school clubs, so although it appears as a wait-list, still register your child for the lottery, which will be shared next week as there’s still some space left on Tuesdays. Last year, we found that the lottery system made the signup process more equitable.
- Ms. White will reach out to families by email if your child has gained a spot.
