Upper School Weekly—Friday, October 30, 2026

Havergal spirit was alive and well yesterday as students and faculty embraced Halloween with creative costumes and plenty of enthusiasm! Our Senior Year Presidents led a wonderful Halloween assembly, bringing plenty of laughter and energy to the Upper School.

We are also grateful to the many families who connected with our faculty during Parent-Teacher Conferences over the past 24 hours. These conversations are an important part of our partnership as we work together to support the learning, growth and development of your exceptional daughters.

Wishing everyone a restful and enjoyable weekend!
Krista

In-Form Programming Next Week

Grade 7
This week, our students are coming together to strengthen their connections through our Win@Social program.

In this session, students will explore a key question: What does “winning” look like for us? Through guided discussions, they will share their ideas on what success, support, and positive culture mean for their specific peer group.

This discussion will lay the groundwork for our next step: building student-led Community Agreements. By defining their shared values, our students will take ownership of creating a welcoming, respectful, and supportive school environment.

Grade 8
Navigating peer relationships is a huge part of middle school life, and this week, our Grade 8 students will explore what it truly means to be a good friend by learning how to navigate social mistakes and deliver meaningful apologies. Our Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence will guide students as they learn to accept failures, take accountability, express genuine empathy, and see how making things right can build trust and resilience in their friendships.

Next Week in Morning Programming

Monday’s grade programming features sessions across every grade to support student growth and well-being. Grade 9s are building on last week’s work on time management to sharpen their planning skills, while Grade 10s are diving into an impactful session on allyship and community support. Meanwhile, Grade 11s are continuing their personal development with a follow up well-being session, and Grade 12s are exploring their individual SDI profiles to uncover how they use their core strengths.

Wednesday’s House programming features the first House Games of the year! Students signed up during TA to represent their houses across a variety of games throughout the school. We are excited to see some friendly competition!

Grade 9 Families: Take Your Kids to Work Day

Some workplaces participate in Take Your Kids to Work Day for Grade 9 students, which takes place this year on Wednesday, November 4.

OSSLT: Preparation Session

During morning grade programming on Monday, November 9, Grade 10 students will attend a session guiding them through downloading and testing the software required by EQAO to write the OSSLT.

During this session, students will also review the test format and have the opportunity to begin a full-length practice test.

Attendance is critical for students to set themselves up for success in completing this graduation requirement.

Students will write the test itself at Havergal on Tuesday, November 17. Contact the Director of Academics, Jennifer Goldberg, with questions.
